FRIENDS OF THE ACADEMY OF THE HEBREW LANGUAGE IN JERUSALEM, INC.

The Academy of the Hebrew Language devotes itself to researching the Hebrew Language in all its historical periods (which span over 3000 years), guiding the development of contemporary Hebrew, and nurturing and cultivating the use of Hebrew as a spoken language and as the language of culture in the State of Israel.

Besides working intensively with the public, the Academy of the Hebrew Language has from its inception been heavily engaged in two unique large-scale projects: the Historical Dictionary Project, the Academy’s central scholarly undertaking, and the Hebrew Terminology Project.  Recently the Academy has taken on another large-scale endeavor:  the establishment of a new home, the Center for the Hebrew Language, which will include a new museum of the Hebrew Language.

In light of the Academy’s growth and the expansion of its activities in new directions, the Friends of the Academy of the Hebrew Language in Jerusalem was founded to assist the Academy in accomplishing its goals, both in its ongoing work and in its efforts to establish the Center for the Hebrew Language.
